The dependability of men is fickle, it's unstable, it's not trustworthy. We have confided in our own ways and tried to figure it out for ourselves for a long time and here we are in a world that is so corrupt and dishonest that we can't even trust our government, let alone our so-called friends.
We are carrying so much that we are burdened down with the cares of this world, our jobs, children, marriage, and finances, it's all creating such pain that if
we don't find an outlet we are going to explode. Who can we turn to, who can we turn to when the people in our lives that we are supposed to depend upon let us down, the government fails, and the money is funny? Our text tells us, "Cast your cares on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never let
the righteous be shaken."
Indeed, we can cast our burdens on the Lord because he is a dependable God. He's a reliable God. He will sustain you. What is hard for us is that God did
not take David out of the trouble, but what he did was sustain him in it. God's not trying to take us out, either. He wants us to trust him and see that he's
dependable in all his ways. Our God is dependable, "Because of the Lord’s great love, we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new
every morning; great is your faithfulness." (Lamentations 3:22-23 NIV). God's love, his mercy, and his compassion sustain us.
We can depend on him. Give him your cares and your burdens, and he will sustain you, he's dependable, and he's reliable. He will not let the righteous be moved. God's got you.
