Today’s Scripture:
2 Timothy 1:7 KJV
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
Fears destroy destinies, dreams, and potential.
The Spirit of Fear is not a good thing; in our text, Paul says to Timothy, God did not give you the spirit of fear. Fear then is not from God. Fear then destroys because anything that doesn't come from God destroys. In other words, whatever comes from the enemy destroys. We talked about it, fear cripples us; it destroys our lives and our creativity. Fear is a destroyer. The enemy uses this to access our future, potential, and lives, which God has already given us the ability to accomplish.
But then fear comes in, and after a while, we don't believe in God's words. In Philippians, he says we can do all things through Christ, but when fear is present, those words become false. We create a false narrative in our minds. When this happens, we live beneath what God has planned for us. The destroyer called fear will wipe you out if you don't gain power and control over fear.
Family, Paul is encouraging Timothy here, a young leader of the Church in Ephesus. He tells him that the destroyer, called the spirit of fear, is not from God. The letter encourages Timothy to remain steadfast in his faith and ministry despite the difficulties and persecutions he was experiencing.
When he tells Timothy what God didn't give him, which is the spirit of fear, he balances it with what God gave him, the spirit of power, love, and a sound mind. So, Paul emphasizes that fear should not stop, destroy or cripple Timothy from fulfilling his ministry duties.
Family, we need a clear mindset. But the enemy knows that if he gets us to think a certain way, it's over for us if he gets into our psyche. He controls the outcomes and the destinies of our lives. He is a destroyer of destinies. The destroyer called fear is after us, but we have power over the Spirit of fear; God gave us the ability to overcome it. You have power over the spirit of fear.
