Today’s Scripture:

Galatians 6:2

Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.

This verse encourages believers to support and help one another. It demonstrates the love and compassion that Jesus taught. Jesus wants us to show love; instead of just being takers, we must become givers. By sharing each other's burdens, we strengthen our community: I find it better to give than to receive, and this is what the Bible says: It is more blessed to give than to receive (Acts 20:35 NIV‬).

Mother Teresa said, ‘What I can do, you cannot. What you can do, I cannot. But together we can do something beautiful for God.’ and fulfill our Christian duty to love and serve one another.” Instead of taking, What are you contributing?

Life's most persistent and urgent question is: 'What are you doing for others? (Martin Luther King Jr.). We are in a society that thinks more about self than others. We are so concerned about ourselves that we refuse to participate if we are not the center of attention. We need to see the needs of others. Our text says, "Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ."

What is the law of Christ referenced by this scripture?

The "law of Christ" referenced in Galatians 6:2 primarily refers to Jesus' command to love one another. We can see this in Scripture when he says, "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples if you love one another." (John 13:34-35).

He also says, "My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you." (John 15:12). Again, Jesus says, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." (Matthew 22:37-40). There's no way around it. We must become givers, which stems from loving each other. You cannot love without giving. For God loves the world that he gave. The natural order of love is followed by giving. What are you contributing to society, your church, your family, your friends?

Family, what are you contributing to your world? Today, I challenge you to commit to contributing to society positively and helpfully by giving of yourself and showing the love of God in a loveless, mean world. Be the light of hope and help to those in need.
