More about Guest:
Meet Cinthia Martinez, the founder and creator of Latina Lifters. She was born and raised in Sinaloa, Mexico. Growing up as a Latina, she faced societal expectations that dictated she should adhere to traditional gender roles, where femininity was emphasized, and sports were considered mainly for men. The idea of going to gyms was off-limits, and there was a constant pressure to conform to the appearance of the idealized novela actresses; any deviation from this norm would lead to strong criticism.
During her teenage years, Cinthia struggled to fit in, and by the age of 12, she began experiencing body dysmorphia. She realized that her body did not match the stereotype of a Latina with a small waist and big hips, the so-called "perfect body." This realization persisted until her mid-20s when she stumbled upon weightlifting. Through weightlifting, she experienced a profound transformation - it was no longer about the weight on her body, but rather the weight she could lift in the gym. Lifting empowered her and made her feel strong and invincible!
While attending her gym, Cinthia had the opportunity to connect with other Latinas who had faced similar struggles. This experience highlighted the lack of representation of Latinas in the fitness community, leading her to take action.
With a passion to create a brand and community that celebrated Latina strength, Cinthia founded "Latina Lifters." Over the 3 years since it’s creation, she has built a community of over 40,000 amazing people. Latina Lifters aims to show the world that Latinas are beautiful, can cherish and honor their heritage while following their own rules, and most of all…are #FUERTEAF!
