About Andrew:

Andrew Coates is a dedicated fitness coach and entrepreneur based in Edmonton. A competitive cross‑country skier and basketball player in his youth, he earned a Bachelor of Commerce (Co‑op) Honours from Memorial University of Newfoundland and turned his passion for athletics into a lifelong career. He began training clients in 2010 and has now logged over 19,000 coaching hours, specializing in fitness, nutrition, and behavior change.

In 2017, Andrew founded Andrew Coates Fitness, operating out of Evolve Strength South and his home studio. He’s also the co-host of The Lift Free and Diet Hard Podcast, a frequent contributor to publications like T‑Nation and Generation Iron, and co‑founder of the Evolve Canadian Strength Symposium. Through mentorship, writing, and a growing social media presence (@andrewcoatesfitness), he reaches fitness professionals and enthusiasts worldwide.

Off the clock, Andrew enjoys Tool, The Witcher series, reading, and Highland Single Malt Scotch. He also shares his life with Ozzy, his fluffy black cat, rounding out a rich personal and professional journey.
