Co-hosts Tamara and Charisse wander into what some
consider controversial territory PRAYER. Its an area few people discuss or fully understand. Some may think its lame, others say its old fashion while a few believe it is necessary. Believers, however, say that prayer is essential.
Two prayer powerhouses, Zereta Mother Z Young and
Cynthia Howie, give their perspectives on prayer. They are both members of First Baptist Church of Glenarden International and are active in a variety of ministries, especially the Adult Bible Study class that meets at 9 a.m. each Sunday at the FBCG Ministry Center in Upper Marlboro, Md.
They first tackle the question, "Why pray?"
We pray because if we are believers, we want to
communicate with whom we believe saved us, cares for us, provides for us. Thats the reason why we pray, Sister Howie says.
Mother Z adds, We serve a sovereign God and He says
that we can come to him at any time, any place, anywhere about anything.
She notes that we need three things as we pray: faith,
belief and positive expectations. Mark 11:24 says Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
Sister Howie says that often we dont understand that some blessings we receive are a result of our prayers, or the prayers of someone else.
