Qadriyyah ‘Q’ Shamsid-Deen is a film creative advocating for powerful passionate, groundbreaking non-fiction stories with a focus on women, people of color and community development.
Previously an executive at Higher Ground Productions, the Obamas' production company for Netflix - she went on to produce the hybrid children’s food and travel show Waffles and Mochi staring Mrs. Obama. She also produced the Home series for Apple TV+.
As a program director for Ryan Murphy Television’s Half Initiative, Q worked to make Hollywood more inclusive by creating equal opportunities for women and minorities behind the camera.
Q assisted producers Brad Simpson and Nina Jacobson with television projects including American Horror Story, American Crime Story, and Pose.
A graduate of Howard University’s Directing Program, California Institute of the Arts Producing and Film/Video programs, as well as a Fulbright Scholar, Q is dedicated to championing original stories and emerging diverse voices.
