Hey ATA Listeners, while listening to our various podcasts you have probably heard Michael, Nico and I use the term crackpot theory when it comes to predicting what we think is ahead for our favorite shows but where did it come from? Well, Nico and I coined the phrase about five years ago when we began having phone conversations about a little show called Fringe. First it started with us marveling at the acting talents of John Noble and Joshua Jackson, then came the questions who are these Observer guys, is Massive Dynamic good or evil? And next thing we knew Leonard Nimoy showed up giving this show incredible credibility within the Sci-Fi genre. However, the clincher was this show introducing one of the most imaginative ideas presented television in the past 10 years, a war between multiple universes taking the concept out of comic book stories like Crisis on Infinite Earths and on to the television screen. The fact that this show went this direction simply just blew our minds and as it continued to develop the idea train ran wild for Nico and I with us throwing out all sorts of crazy predictions on where the writers were going to take this Science Fiction roller coaster ride. Eventually, as our TV conversations developed into the ATA Podcast, these predictions became known as crackpot theories since the writers of Fringe raised the bar to a level that we had to go way out in left field to even take a guess at how certain plot lines were going to be resolved. Most of the time our theories were so off that it didn't even seem like we could hit the broad side of a barn but in those rare times we were right the feeling of satisfaction was immeasurable leading to some of the best content that this podcast has ever produced.
Now obviously, with us being indebted to Fringe for providing Nico and I with some of our best and favorite discussions we've had on Across The Airwaves as we cited in our epic 100th Episode, it needed the red carpet treatment just like we gave our other favorites (Smallville and Chuck) when they came to an end by setting up a Live Show providing a retrospective on all the Fringe moments from Season 1 through the 5th season's Series Finale that simply blew our minds with crackpot theories. Unfortunately, due to Nico being on the West Coast and me being in the Midwest we had to push our Final crackpot theories on Fringe back to our recording of ATA 108, leaving me needing a cohost for this Fringe Finale Live Show. So as always our very own DC Nation/Longbow Hunters/Retro Reviews Podcast host Michael J. Petty swooped in to save the day but with Fringe's imaginative content being such a mind explosion we needed more help, which was a bit of an issue since Andy and Woo haven't watched Fringe. But that wouldn't have stopped Dr. Bishop and it certainly didn't stop me as I crossed over to get the alternate versions of Andy and Woo, my friends on the other side Doug Roewer and Lyndley St. John to join us for this Live Show. Again, don't ask me who's the alternate to each person, just kind of go with it since I'm on a roll here.
Anyway, with Doug and Lyndley who are as nuts as Nico when it comes to getting excited about crackpot theories backing up our Fringe Team, Michael and I were able to put together a great Live Show that paid a great tribute to Fringe, the Television Series of endless possibilities, which led ATA to what I think has been some of its finest moments. In other words, I present this recording of our Fringe Finale Live Show to you, the fans, cast, writers and crew who made this outstanding show that will go down in Sci-Fi History possible so what are you waiting for? Sit back and listen to this podcast, which I think you will all enjoy.
