After hearing that those who inhabited the promised land were big and powerful, the Israelites where filled with fear and began to cry, complain and murmur. God contemplates exterminating them, having already failed him 10 times, but Moses appeals to him for mercy and He forgives them, once again. Making them aware that because of their rebellion their grandchildren will be the ones able to enter the land, with the exception of Caleb and Joshua, who did not doubt His covenant. Numbers 14:33 tells us "while your children will wander for forty years, suffering for your infidelity, till the last of you lies dead in the wilderness." Taken outside of the cultural context and from the biblical scholar's lens, perhaps we could think that God is being a bit radical or punishing, but today we will see it from Love.
Today God is asking you, are you ready to risk believing in My promises? Do you fully trust My power? Despite the continuous infidelity of his people God does not abandon them. They freely choose not to enter, saying that God freed them to let them die, forgetting about all the miracles received that led them to where they were. God does not want the death of his children but rather to lead them to eternal life. The Israelites, despite having Him dwell among them for forty years, did not know Him. But God continued to show His mercy and allowed His grace to act in the midst of their life struggles and the consequences of their actions. Today God invites us to reflect on our actions but through the lens of His mercy in order to give death to what is prevening us from moving forward and recognizing His greatness.
May the Lord open our hearts to His Eternal Love 🙏💕🕊️
