My guest is Ashlee Trammel, who is a 38-year-old mother of 3 beautiful children. She’s a grateful recovering addict that has struggled with addiction more years than she hasn’t. Ashlee has been in recovery for over 2 years and has worked the program and continued doing the next right thing. The catalyst in her story was losing custody of her youngest daughter due to her addiction. She was making poor choices and her mom stepped in with the Oklahoma Department of Human Services (DHS) to protect her child from those poor choices.
Ashlee struggled with anger, guilt, resentment, and addiction to top it all off. She found her recovery family and they loved her through it. They gave her the grace and space to figure it out. She thanks God every day for all of her struggles and accomplishments because they all mean something today.
Her greatest accomplishments are completing a DHS case and regaining custody of her youngest daughter, enrolling in college classes at Oklahoma State University – Oklahoma City (OSU-OKC), and taking the opportunity to participate in the OSU-OKC Center for Social Innovation (CFSI) program. Without her sobriety none of this would be possible.
Ashlee’s goal is to help others overcome their obstacles. She currently serves as a Parent Partner with Northcare, helping parents with DHS cases to overcome their barriers. She is so honored to share her experience, strength and hope with others. Ashlee feels like that is her purpose.
