Description

My guest is Brian Warfield, who has been a hospital chaplain for over 8 years and absolutely loves it. He’s had the chance to work at Baptist Medical Center, Spencer Mental Health, and most recently at Southwest Medical Center as Pastoral Care Manager. What he loves most is meeting people who are in a difficult crisis and providing a caring presence to support them. He tries to be a warm, engaging, and hopeful representative of his faith tradition.

He enjoys chaplaincy because he gets to be creative in how he offers spiritual support. It can be a spirituality group, a 1-with-1 encounter, or most recently a Facebook Live prayer time from the SMC chapel. He finds himself most engaged when he feels like what he does makes a difference and allows him to use different parts of his personality: the creative side, reflective side, analytical side, and passionate side.

When he’s not chaplain-ing, he loves to spend time with his family, go running with friends, and play the guitar. He also spends entirely way too much of his money at Dunkin’ Donuts.
