In the south, colloquialisms abound. One that is used often is, "You look like a cow staring at a new gate." It describes someone faced with an obstacle or question that they can't seem to solve, and they just stare, sometimes in disbelief. The Jews were often like this when it came to Jesus. He presented them with questions and answers they just couldn't believe.
