Chapter 10 - Meeting Bizzie
“Who are our new friends?” asked Molly.
“These are other members of the bee patrol,” said Radar. “They were scouting the river beyond the waterfalls when they received my message. They came just in time to help with our defense.”
“That was lucky,” said Abby.
“I’m not sure I believe in luck anymore,” said Radar. “Magic is afoot and so far, it’s in our favour.”
“We must get a message to Mama Owl fellas,” said Radar.
“I’ll go,” said one of the bee patrol. “Quick as can be.”

Spunky was curled up in front of the cave resting. Molly and Abby curled up next to him, each under their own floppy ear shawl. Tired from their little side adventure, they fell asleep.
The following morning Spunky woke to a quiet voice.
“Excuse me. Uh-hem.”
Spunky lifted his head, waking Molly and Abby.
“What is it, Spunky? What’s the matter?” asked Molly.
“Excuse me please. I do not mean to intrude,” said the voice.
“We should go into the cave,” whispered Abby, worried.
“Oh Abby, porcupine tornados don’t apologize for intruding,” said Molly.
“Oh… Umm. Hello. I am Bizzie. I live up river a bit.”
“It’s very nice to meet you Bizzie. How can we help you?” asked Molly.
Spunky snarled a little.
“Porcupine tornados also don’t introduce themselves, Spunky,” said Molly. “It’s a neighbor. We should be polite.”
“Goodness. I am a beaver. I came to see if you lost some of your friends,” said Bizzie.
“I have never seen anything like them before.” He dangled an upside down bald little rodent, by his feet.
“Missus and I rescued two of these downriver beyond the falls. They almost drowned. The other is in our guest lodge over yonder,” Bizzie pointed, swinging the squirming rodent.
Radar overheard the conversation and was buzzing around inspecting the poor rodent.
“They are harmless now. Missus was able to pluck them, they were so tired after almost drowning,” said Bizzie. “They are miserable and itchy.”
“How do you keep them in your guest lodge?” asked Radar.
“They cannot swim, so it is easy. Do you want them back?” asked Bizzie. “Missus is not fond of them. They are not friendly or kind.”
Just then, Mama Owl swooped in and landed on a nearby rock.
“WooHoo, WooHoo! What have we here?” asked Mama Owl.
“Hiya Mama Owl,” said Bizzie.
“Hello Bizzie, how have you been?”
“Very well thank-you. There is a new waterfall just beyond that rock,” Bizzie said pointing, still swinging the upside down rodent. “Missus and I are building a new dam and lodge, upriver a bit.”
“WooHoo! A new waterfall you say. Delightful, delightful.”
