Chapter 13 - Snatched

“These are beautiful feathers, aren’t they?” asked Molly.

“Yes they are lovely,” agreed Abby.

“Can you imagine being able to fly Spunky?” asked Molly.

“Could be fun,” added Abby.

But Spunky was silent, looking at his pendant.

“Hey Spunky, what’s up?” asked Molly.

“The small dots.  They’re gone,” said Spunky.

“What could that mean?” asked Molly.

“You get lost,” said Spunky.

“No we won’t.  We will never leave you Spunky.  We love you,” answered Abby, Molly nodding in agreement.

Spunky knew he couldn’t change what might happen.  He picked up Molly and Abby, and gave them a huge hug.  “Yes, we three are one.”

Spunky turned and started to trot toward the forest, Molly and Abby on his back.

“Yes, we three are one,” Spunky thought to himself.  “We three are one.”

Spunky trotted along the river Molly and Abby on his back chatting about the forest.

“You will like the forest Spunky.  There are several creeks perfect for splashing,” said Abby.  “And there are lots of animals around.”

“We will introduce you to everyone,” added Molly.  “I’m sure they will love you.”

Both Molly and Abby were snatched off Spunky’s back.  The Quillza had been following, waiting for a chance to grab them.

“No,” hollered Spunky.  He turned to chase them but The Quillza were fast and got away.

Spunky knew where they were going and sprinted straight through The Lost Fields, toward The Champlain Bridge.  He was not going to lose his new friends too.

Grabbed by the feather collar, Molly knew not to fight.

“Save your energy, Abby.  Don’t fight, try to relax,” yelled Molly.

“I’ll try,” answered Abby, crying.

“Spunky will follow, don’t worry,” Molly called.  “He will find us.”

When The Quillza finally dropped Molly and Abby, they were near a ridge.  They were surrounded by five Quillza.

“I am Scar.  Give me your buttons,” demanded Scar.
