Chapter 18 - Celebrations

Mama Owl was a bit sore from Spunky’s pounce.

“It’s a good thing you had Mama Owl’s tail feather Spunky,” said Abby.  “That was a very long leap.  How long will Molly remain asleep?”

“Don’t know.  Not the same for all,” answered Spunky.

All of the forest animals celebrated the defeat of The Quillza.  Even The Queen Bee joined in the celebrations.

“I don’t understand Spunky, what happened?” asked Molly when she finally woke up.

“Quills.  Put you to sleep,” answered Spunky.

“But why did everything stop?” asked Abby.

“WooHoo, yes please, Spunky, do tell, do tell,” hooted Mama Owl.

Spunky pulled out his pendant.

“Time stops for all but those with these,” he said, pointing at his goggles.

“But why did Molly and I get googles?” asked Abby.

“We three are one, my friends,” Spunky said smiling.  “We three are one.”

Molly and Abby raced up and gave him a huge snuggle hug.

“Oh, yes!  We three are one!  Now and always.”

The next day Missus arrived at the ongoing celebrations dragging along the two bald Quillza from the guest lodge.

“These ruffians are not welcome any more.  They are miserable lodge guests,” complained Missus.

Seeing the other sticky Quillza, she set about plucking.  “We cannot have these ruffians causing more trouble.”

Plucked and itchy, The Quillza were a miserable sight.

“Surely we can’t leave them like this, bald, cold and itchy under a wooden box,” commented Molly.

“They are harmless without their quills,” said Mama Owl.  “I don’t think they will cause much trouble, except fighting amongst themselves.”

“Slather them with honey, it will sooth the itch,” said The Queen Bee.  “I will have the knitting bees knit up some sweaters to keep them warm.  Won’t take long, they are very quick.”

Spunky sat watching the celebrations.  He looked at his pendant and sighed, tears forming.  The waterfall sketch had faded completely.

Mama Owl swooped over, and placed a wing over his shoulder.  Spunky showed her his pendant.

“When time shifts, this fades.  My new home is gone.”

“But we aren’t,” cried Molly and Abby.  “We three are one.  Now and always.”
