Chapter 8 - Attacked Again
Just then Spunky called to Radar, “Hey Bee, come.”
“Coming,” answered Radar.
Spunky was growling at a bunch of bees clinging to a branch, just out of Spunky’s reach.
“Know these guys?”
“Please Radar, tell him you sent a message,” said one of the bee patrol, others interrupting.
“We were patrolling downriver.”
“Past the waterfalls.”
“We came when we got your message.”
“Did you find the cats?”
Spunky growled again. “You know Molly and Abbs? How?”
“Radar please. Tell him.”
But Radar didn’t answer.
Spunky turned to look for Radar.
<<SWOOSH>> <<SWOOSH>>
“They found us,” Radar called back.
Following Radar, the bees buzzed away, no longer worried about Spunky.
Spunky knew he had to stop them before they got to the cave.
“No you don’t. Leave my friends be!” yelled Spunky.
<<BANG>>
Spunky clobbered one then ran toward the cave.
Radar and the bees were stinging two others from all sides.
Too late! One got into the cave.
“No!” howled Spunky. “Molls! Abbs!”
It was super fast, crisscrossing the cave. It grabbed several clumps of dog fur and darted out of the cave, triumphant.
Spunky didn’t care.
“Molls! Abbs!” Spunky called. But there was no reply. The cave was empty.
“No! This can’t be. Molls! Abbs!” Spunky howled, tears streaming down his face.

Molly and Abby followed Radar out of the cave when Spunky called a few minutes earlier.
They saw dust whirling up the path from the river. Neither Radar nor Spunky were looking in that direction. They were focused on a nearby branch.
“Uh!” screamed Abby.
Porcupine tornados were swooshing up the path from the river. Neither Radar nor Spunky saw them coming.
“Sush!” whispered Molly, pulling Abby back into the cave. “We need a quick plan.”
Crouching in a corner of the cave, Molly whispered, “They want our buttons so let’s give them the buttons from my necklace.”
Molly scattered her buttons - except for her oval button - into the dog fur that covered the cave floor.
“Okay, squeeze in here Abby. Me too, make room,” whispered Molly.
Abby pulled herself through a small hole in the cave wall close to the floor into a small cavern.
Molly was right behind her.
“Let’s hope the porcupine tornados don’t fit through there,” said Molly.
“They won’t,” said Abby. “It crumbled behind us.”
