We all eat Oreo cookies the same, right? You split the Oreo in half, eat the cream first and then the cookies! In this message Pastor Luke will address the passage in this same manner. In Mark 3:19-35 we see one story bracketed by another. In each of the two stories we will see an accusation, a defense, and a counterpoint :
1. The means of the Messiah's miracles (vs 22-30)
Accusation: Christ's work is empowered by Satan
Defense: Satan's kingdom cannot be divided
Counterpoint: The "unpardonable sin"
2. The state of the Savior's sanity.
Accusation: Being poured out for the Father is insanity
Defense: Doing God's work is a preeminent priority
Counterpoint: Christ's brothers do the Father's will
We see through each of these stories a common theme: God's will is opposed by God's enemies and known by His children.
So the question for us today is what will we do with Jesus?
