To fast or not to fast, that is the question! Well, that is the question that starts off this message by Pastor Luke Hollis. He opens the Word to continue his series on the book of Mark. Specifically we are looking at Mark 2:18-22. The Passage begins with the Pharisees asking Jesus Christ why He and His followers aren't as holy as they are! Then we see Christ's response to their impudence. Finally, we discuss how Jesus explains to the crowd (both Pharisees and publicans) that He is bringing a completely new teaching that will turn their lives and the world upside down. Pastor Luke explains it like this:

I. The fast of the Pharisees

• Fasting is commended not commanded.
• Legalism - making your own moral standard the standard for everyone, this replaces God as the lawgiver, with you.

II. The Supper of the Savior

• The bridegroom (Christ) is here! It's time to feast not fast.
• Attending Church is a celebration of Christ's resurrection, we should act like it!

III. The Novelty of the New Covenant

• The new teachings of Jesus cannot be "added" to anything else. Jesus alone us what we need.
