While swimming remains a classic Australian past time, experts are concerned that Aussie parents may be unable to save their child's life in an emergency, with Royal Life Saving revealing most parents haven’t completed CPR training.

With timely CPR intervention increasing a child’s chance of survival dramatically, Royal Life Saving has partnered with Kids Alive to launch a free, online training to remove the barriers to CPR training and empower Aussie parents with life-saving CPR and first aid knowledge for infants and toddlers.

The Heart Beat Club will offer a month free access to its online training and will cover a range of topics including CPR skills, along with first aid essentials like how to treat common injuries, choking, burns, scalds, control of bleeding, dealing with shock and control of communicable disease.

Swim safety ambassador and former coach Laurie Lawrence chatted about the Heart Beat Club on Gippsland Perspective.
