Have you given much thought to how you would escape your home in the event of a fire? Well, research from fire safety business Brooks Australia shows over three in five (64%) of Victorians haven't discussed an escape plan in case of fire with their family members!
The fire escape plan is on the back of every hotel room door for a reason, why would we not practise such vigilance in our own home?
A fire safety plan is essential for all Victorian households to ensure everyone gets out safely in the event of a fire with all parties reuniting in the same spot to ensure everyone is accounted for.
It’s a practice that all family members should be familiar with, and it is recommended to have multiple escape plans in place from each room.
And with parts of Gippsland battling fires and the fire danger period already beginning in the Wellington and East Gippsland shires, the warning to plan is timely.
Joining Gippsland Perspective host David Braithwaite to talk about it is Tony Talbot, a fire safety manager at Brooks Australia.
