Today I saw a picture of the basic frame of a bed with the springs and no mattress. That would be extremely uncomfortable to sleep on and we would be better off sleeping on a floor. Similarly, if we have a limited view of God as being a God who curses people with sickness, pain and misfortune then we have a very uncomfortable view of Him and it is best not to have Him in our lives at all. God actually wants to bless us and take away our curses and to heal the brokenhearted. Using the analogy of a bed, God wants to cushion us and comfort us as a true bed should. Yesterday an agnostic friend said she felt blessed with her beautiful newborn baby boy. I said that as a blessing is a special gift, who did she believe her blessing of a son was from? She couldn't answer that. Can you? I believe that there is a mighty, loving and giving God who wants to bless all of us abundantly.
