I had an image of a boomerang today. If thrown correctly it will return to its origin. Similarly our destination is our origin! God created us, as King David succinctly declares, "Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there were none of them".(Psalm 139:16). God wants us back with Him for all eternity but, in love, He leaves each one of us to choose this option to return to Him. He has given us a way to return to Him, through Jesus Christ. Without Jesus we are damned by the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil which makes us subject to judgement. Jesus hung on a tree, as the wooden cross was, with His arms literally and figuratively outstretched to take all our wrong doings, to restore us to the tree which had been growing right beside that damning tree - the Tree of Life (Genesis 2:9). This latter tree gives us eternal life so our permanent destination with God can be where our conception started - with God.
