Description

Today I saw a 'picture' of a person covering their ears and screwing up their eyes at the barrage of discordant sound (a cacophony) coming their way, representing a medley of differing and sometimes confusing, unhelpful advice. It also makes me think of platitudes which are common expressions used which sometimes have lost their authenticity such as, possibly, "Have a good day". In contrast to all this is God's Word which never loses its authenticity, validity and effect. God speaks through the prophet Isaiah: "As the rain and snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: it will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it" (Isaiah 55:10-11).
