Description

Today I saw a simple cap and then a bucket hat which is a basic hat with a circle on the top, short sloping sides shaped around the head and a small flat brim around all the hat. This has caused me to reflect on Apostle Paul's directive for women to cover their heads, declaring that men have authority over women (1 Corinthians 11) and women should be silent in the churches (1 Corinthians 14)! In all honesty, I asked God for another picture but of course I realise I need to obey. Caps, over time, have changed in uses and ways to wear them, as with bucket hats which apparently are currently in vogue! Similarly, some bible verses have a cultural context and are pertinent to the time of being given , unlike prophetic verses which utter God's eternal promises to us. What is eternal is our need to submit to God. James 4 tells us that our self-thinking causes us to fight and quarrel. Also, "When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures" (verse 4). Through not focusing on ourselves but submitting to God, we actually receive what is best for us. "Submit yourselves, then, to God...Come near to God and He will come near to you...Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up". (Verses 7..8..10).
