Today I had a picture of a cinnamon stick. Cinnamon was a rare spice in ancient times and was one of the ingredients God had listed, amongst other spices and aromatic reeds, to be mixed into olive oil to create the sacred anointing oil for His tabernacle. (Exodus 30:22-25). Anointing with oil is a centuries old biblical practice used to symbolise God's power, presence, healing, consecration and hospitality. In apostle Paul's 2nd Letter to the Corinthians, chapter 2 verse 14-15 he says that God, "...uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of Him everywhere. For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ ...". It brings the question to my mind as to how much we allow Jesus to pervade our lives so that we can spread His aroma to those around us? Do we stop and ask Him to help us in our daily choices for instance or is He a distant God we acknowledge if and when we make time to think about Him?
