Today I saw a picture of a contrail, the white cloudlike trail left by a plane as it flies across the sky. This brings to mind the verse that says, "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us"(Hebrews 12:1). The book of Hebrews lists some of these witnesses who are people who have trusted God and He has brought them up to great heights. 'The sin that entangles" is sin that leads us away from faith in God but it is also sin which weighs us down when we are consumed with guilt and don't trust that Jesus has taken our sin from us. Jesus wants us to feel free and invites us to "Come unto me all you who labour and are heavy laden; and I will give you rest " Matthew 11:28). Let Jesus take your burdens of sin from you so you can follow the great cloud of witnesses and rise high with God at the helm, fully trusting Him.
