Description

Today I saw a feast on a table with a white dove flying above it, signifying the Holy Spirit. In Revelations 3:20 the risen Christ tells His church: "Here I am! I stand at the church and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with Me ". Jesus, the face of God, wants to eat with us, expressing love and intimacy. This is an echo of His words to His disciples as recounted in Matthew 7:7-8. When Jesus left this earth He gave us His Holy Spirit to indwell us. The invitation is there for all of us. In Psalm 23, which many recognise as 'The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want', King David declares in verse 5 that "You (_the Lord_) prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies". In those days, allies used to dine together before they went to battle. Remember, "If God is for us, who can be against us" (Romans 8:31). What a wonderful dining partner God is.
