Description

Today I saw a picture of a hand held folded fan which clearly has no effect until it has been opened up. Even then, however beautiful the fan, it is still only effective if we move it back and forth. Can you see the analogy with us only being effective in God's Kingdom, if we are active? However, there is a final condition for an effective fan and that is that there is air. Similarly, we need the breath of the Holy Spirit in our lives to be effective in God's Kingdom. Whilst on earth Jesus told His disciples that the work of God is "to believe in the one He has sent". (John 6:29). He promised that "the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you". (John 14:26). When we choose to receive the Holy Spirit, our bodies become temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19) and He helps us in our weaknesses (Romans 8:26), developing the fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).
