Today I saw a magician's black hat from which he traditionally pulls out a long string of tied-together coloured silk scarves and a white rabbit etc. Magicians make use of science and sleight of hand to perform conjuring tricks. Magicians can be entertaining and clever but today's picture serves as a good reminder that we can be deceived into believing what is not real. Jesus warns us "For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect" (Matthew 24:24). Apostle Paul reiterates a similar message: "The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie". (2Thessalonians 2:9). We are warned to be careful in what we are believing as true.
