The picture today of a pair of mocassins immediately brings to mind an old native American proverb telling us never to judge another until we have walked a mile in their moccasins. That then leads me on to what most of us know - not to judge others as we never know the full facts and, in any case, are we perfect enough to judge? Jesus warns us to "first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye" (Luke 6:42b). In other words, when we have God's perfect perspective then we are in a position to judge. This leads on to the Holy Spirit gift of discernment. The Holy Spirit can use us, at His discretion, as vessels to speak a timely Word into a person's life to guide them in the right direction. This is not the same as personally judging another but, instead, is God's impact on another through us as a loving willing vessel.
