Today I saw a rose bush in a snowy landscape, reminding me of the scene in the fairy tale story of Beauty and the Beast in which a man tries to pick a red rose from a property not of his own, to give to his daughter, Beauty. A Beast confronts him for stealing from him. Without going into detail, Beauty's love for the Beast reverts the Beast back to the handsome prince he had been hideously transformed from by a wicked witch. We are all born as innocent babies but the devil is out to distort our lives. Jesus is recorded in John 10:10 as telling us that "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full". Jesus is pure love. Can you see the connection I am making to this fairy tale, which can be seen as an allegory of the innocent life we start off with, the negative influences in our lives and then what Jesus wants to restore to all of us through His unconditional love?
