Yesterday I had seen a bunch of flowers which, though temporary, can be a wonderful and timely gift. Thinking on these flowers again today I see a rose bush from which some of the flowers in the bouquet came. The roses on the bush, when tended well, can last longer than cut flowers because of the root system. However, they are still only a shadow of what is awaiting us in heaven! When Apostle John had his revelations he saw heaven where "He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning nor crying nor pain any more, for the former things have passed away (Revelations 21:4). All we have on earth is a shadow of what is in heaven. We were reminded the other day that Moses created the Tabernacle, as instructed by God, and it was a shadow of what is in heaven (Hebrews 8:5). I delight at nature around me and yet it is mind blowing to know that it is still a shadow of the perfection we will enjoy in heaven.
