Description

Today I saw a scarab beetle which were much revered by the ancient Egyptians as, to them, these beetles represented new life, with new beetles seemingly springing from their dung. In fact the adult laid eggs in the dung where the larvae ingested the nutrients for a few weeks and then emerged as beetles. Images of the revered beetles adorned much of the ancient Egyptian's life, such as their jewellery, protective amulets, royal seals and funeral charms to ensure safe passage to the after life. Their creations were beautiful but we know they cannot pass on in to the next life. God and His Kingdom offer absolute beauty and permanency. Many bible verses tell us this. King Solomon beautifully declared of God that "He has made everything beautiful in its time; He has also set eternity in the human heart ..." (Ecclesiastes 3:11).
