Today I was reminded of my biology lesson with a seed and cotyledon, the first embryonic leaf. This further brings to mind the spiritual life which is also available to us and can develop in us, in addition to our earthly body. Jesus came back for 40 days after His death on the cross, with convincing proofs that He was alive, speaking about the Kingdom of God. (see Acts 1:4). He had a physical body but with spiritual form. For instance, He made a fire and cooked on the beach for His disciples though He wasn't immediately recognised by them
(John 21:1ff). Another time He sat and broke bread at supper, having not been recognised for some time by 2 men who had known him previously. Then He was able to just disappear from their presence. (Luke 24:30). Jesus was also initially unrecognisable to Mary Magdalene (John 20:14) and then suddenly appeared to His disciples in a locked room and ate some grilled fish with them (John 20:19; Luke 24:41). Yes, relish your life here on earth and, hopefully, even recognise God's hand in the creation of you, but let's not discount this amazing second life made available to us through Jesus.
