Today I saw a picture of a bamboo hut with a rattan mat in a beautiful, clean setting, with the words: "Strip back to simplicity of living". This is about concentrating on what is truly important in life. Philippians 4:8 reminds us to to think on what is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent or praiseworthy. This is a good guideline, rather like the graph paper of Saturday's picture to redirect us, say for example, from thinking about what others have that we wish we had too. Proverbs 3 talks about the necessity of wisdom in our lives which requires us to honour and thank God, whereby we will gain so much more (verse 9) and we will discover that wisdom is far more valuable than gold and silver (verse 13). 1 Peter 3:3-4 refers to the inner beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit. Today's picture of a simple hut in beautiful surroundings represents a beautiful soul. Let's ask God to develop that in us.
