Today I saw a picture of a soft cuddly monster with his mouth open, pretending to be scary. This makes me think of how we can forget that the devil is a real enemy who is out to get us. He roars to scare us (1 Peter 5:8) and tries to make us think that we have to carry our guilt and shame but we can put on the armour of God, part of which is the shield of faith, and we can pray in the Spirit on all occasions (Ephesians 6:10-18). Also, as Apostle Paul warns us, we can easily be deceived by a false Christ and false gospel, with Satan and his servants masquerading as light and righteousness (2 Corinthians 11:4,14). Jesus Himself said: "they will provide great signs and wonders, so as to deceive, if possible, even the elect" (Matthew 24:24-25). If we are aware of the devil's evil plans and focus on God's Word, he will already be a defeated foe in our lives.
