Today I had a "picture" of a stately, alert male deer with beautiful antlers. Deer used to be prevalent in Israel and are often mentioned in the bible to signify firm grounding in the Lord. We can stand regal because of our Father God king but there is also a reminder of the need to always remain humble in our reliance on God to be able to scale mountains, representing challenges, and thus to stand on high places. 2 Samuel 22:34 declares "He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he causes me to stand on the heights". It may be fanciful but I love the fact that when recording this verse in today's devotional, without any planning or calculation, it appears in minute 2, second 22 and includes milliseconds 34, so are using the same digits. Anyway, let us remember to stand gracefully and humbly at all times because of our mighty Father God.
