Today I saw a suit cover, used for the protection of unused suits stored in a wardrobe/closet. This has made me think of the many objects and blessings we may keep in storage for possible use at a later date which end up being wasted or hardly ever used. We also have spiritual giftings and talents which God gives us for the benefit of others, but I believe this message is actually about our material blessings. It is not a question of showing off our possessions but of not being wasteful and of showing our gratitude to God for what we have. I think of the lady who said that she had the most beautiful porcelain dinner service which she had kept aside for special visitors but was rarely used. She suddenly felt challenged, and realised how blessed she, her family and friends could be in the regular use of them. If anything gets broken then God is our perfect provider and we know that our riches are what are stored in heaven anyway (See Matthew 6:19-21). Can you imagine if God were to withhold some of the beauty of his flowers, for instance, for a later date? If God wants to bless us abundantly now, thank Him and make use of the blessings, blessing others as we do so.
