The white ribbon image today has made me think of a wedding cake and other wedding decorations. In the Old Testament, God is described through His Prophets as delighting over His people in the same way a groom delights over His bride. "And as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall your God rejoice over you" (Isaiah 62:5b). In the New Testament the church is described as the Bride of Christ (Ephesians 5:25). With the Holy Spirit convicting and guiding us we can be excited at the prospect of the marriage feast which we are told will take place when Christ comes to collect us as his bride.(Revelations 19:7-9). Apostle John continues to prophesy: "And the Spirit and the bride say, 'Come!'. And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely". (Revelations 22:17). We are promised eternity as His beloved.
