Description

I saw an old fashioned TV antenna as placed on a roof. Poor weather conditions could adversely affect the reception on the television to which the antenna was connected. Similarly, poor connections in our mind can prevent us from hearing from God; however He is forever trying to communicate with us. Poor connections could have a number of causes, such as disbelief, lack of interest, sinning in that we are going our own sweet way and fear. However strong we consider our faith to be we could be in such a testing situation that we do indeed fear. Prophet Elijah who had such a strong belief in God and was used mightily by God with many signs and wonders, then suffered acute fear when someone swore that they would kill him within 24 hours. He wanted to die and felt that he was the only believer in God remaining in Israel. God never gave up on Elijah and sent angels to provide him with sustenance. Eventually Elijah heard God's quiet voice when he had stilled his fear. God gave him specific instructions and reassured him that there were actually 3,000 other believers. (1 Kings 19). Let us metaphorically quieten our hearts and minds from fear so that we can hear from God too.
