In general, education of the young supports child-led learning. A child who can explore and try for himself, within safe boundaries, at least until he gets to the point of near frustration and awareness of the need for help, develops more ingrained learning. By the same token, we are God's children, created by Him to learn for ourselves, at our own pace, of Him. He is there as our safety net at all times and instantly there when we need help. I am reminded of another principle to add to this - that God wants us to obey Him, on issues that are absolutely for our good and safety. "Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right" (Ephesians 6:1). Let us get the right balance in our parenting and in our being parented by God, allowing learning in one's own way and pace, without forgetting obedience.
