Today I have been reminded of a song which used to irritate me when I heard it sung by an adult years ago. I searched for it just now and heard the original version which was sweetly sung by two young children in the early 50s, long before I was born. This has caused me to reflect on how our attitudes can change based on our experiences and context etc. Grace is a wonderful gift extended to another when they don't deserve it and/or haven't earned it, forgiveness being just one important aspect of grace. Grace looks at the bigger picture. The final verse in the entire Bible declares, "The grace of the Lord Jesus be on all. Amen". Let Jesus be an example to us as He patiently extends grace to us even though we are still in the process of being changed for the better. In any case, it might be us who needs changing rather than the one we believe we are being gracious towards.
