Today I was reminded of the two main types of stitches when knitting (Knit and Pearl) which, whilst requiring different techniques and result in different effects, actually mimic each other when viewed on their reverse sides. This brings to mind the necessity sometimes of presenting a different face though we are the same person. (This is in contrast to being two-faced which means to be insincere). For instance, as a teacher we might need to be sterner with an older student than a very young one. However, our inner core is still the same. Similarly, God wants us to hold onto our faith and trust in Him at all times whatever differing circumstances are presented to us. We read about persevering yesterday as quoted from the Bible Epistle of James 1:2-4. James further says in verses 6-8, "But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like the wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. That person is double-minded and unstable in all they do". That sounds harsh but is emphasising the necessity in believing God in order to receive from Him. The double-mindedness and instability James refers to is the moving back and forth between faith and lack of faith, constantly faltering and wavering.
