Today's picture is linked to the account of the two sisters, Martha and Mary, who had invited Jesus to their home. Martha became very agitated as she was the one preparing the meal whilst Mary sat at Jesus's feet. Martha accused Jesus of not handling the unfairness of this situation. Jesus replied, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed - or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her" (Luke 10:42). As a very new Christian I had asked Jesus, unbeknown to anyone else, if I should spend time reading His word and getting to know Him figuratively like Mary or continue as a Christian who was decent and kind to others, which in my mind I considered I was and was enough to label me as a Christian. I had no idea of a relationship with Jesus and had only just learnt that He had taken my sin and certainly didn't know that there was a lot to change in me! I was shocked and surprised that in that very same week I had posed that question in my heart, a mature Christian lady had a "word" for me from Jesus - that I had been like Martha for too long and that Jesus wanted me to be more like Mary. What a proof to me that Jesus certainly wants a relationship with us, wants to 'speak' to us and answer our questions. I really treasure that Jesus continues to answer my questions one way or another.
