Description

Today's devotional continues from Saturday's where I had read 2 Timothy 2 verses 14 and 16, intentionally omitting verse 15, in order to concentrate on it today. It refers to rightly dividing the Word of Truth. For Paul to caution his young protégé in this, clearly indicates that there must be also be a wrong way of discerning the Truth. Often looking at the context of a verse is useful and of course to ask the Holy Spirit to help. Ensure you are paying attention to Godly interpretations. When we have queries and quandaries in our life, a helpful verse can often become apparent to us. One text could also be full of Truths which we can gradually discern over time. The Word "is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart" (Hebrews 4:12). It can truly guide us through our lives, as to God's Will, if we ensure we are discerning correctly and not trying to manipulate its meaning to an interpretation we would prefer to have in order to follow our own will contrary to God's. The more we study God's Word the more we find that we want our will to align with His Will.
