Today I am thinking of all the detail in the bible which we can so easily overlook, unless the Holy Spirit reveals it to us. I am looking in particular at Jesus's Parable of the Sower. To those of us already familiar with the Parable of the Sower, we are aware that the seed represents God's Word and is depicted as falling on different grounds, representing different hearts - some are hard and will never receive His Word, some are enthusiastic until other distractions come their way and others are beset by troubles and/or a focus on material wealth which have a stranglehold on God's truths. However, yet others have fertile hearts. I have thought on these variances many times, praying to have a fertile heart, but I have never thought on the words, "...where it produced a crop - a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. Whoever has ears, let them here" (Matthew 13:8b-9). Why the details of 100, 60, 30? In fact, why not in the order of 30, 60, 100? Well, I was recently led by a fellow Christian to recognise the significance of Hebrew letters correlating to numbers. The letter 'kuf' has the numerical value of 100 and signifies the completion of living matter. 'Samech' has the numerical value of 60 and signifies the endless cycle of life. 'Lamed' has the numerical value of 30 and signifies teaching, learning and redemption. Wow, that order of numbers now makes sense with the seed signifying the end of the life of a plant, 6o signifying a continuation of life in the next plant sprouting from the seed and finally, 30 is the Word teaching us of His redemption of mankind. That is all in simplistic terms. There is so much more significance in all that detail which I am only just grasping.
