Today I saw a picture of a white heart with a window inside which has made me think of the expression "the eyes are the window to the soul", whereby our eyes reveal what is deep within us. The whole of Matthew 6 gives an account of Jesus telling His followers to look at what is important to God and His Kingdom rather than focusing on self and what gives immediate pleasure and praise. I encourage you to read the whole chapter but for now I choose two verses, v.22-23 from The Message translation which says, "Your eyes are windows into your body. If you open your eyes wide in wonder and belief, your body fills up with light. If you live squinty-eyed in greed and distrust, your body is a musty cellar. If you pull the blinds on your windows, what a dark life you will have!". Let us be long sighted and invest in God's eternal Kingdom which gives us light now rather than having a short sighted view which, in comparison, gives us a life of stumbling in the dark.
