Today I sense I should refer to the stirring of the pool at Bethesda in Jerusalem (John 5:1ff). It was said that an angel stirred it ever so often and whoever got in to the pool first got healed. Jesus saw a man lying by the side who had been waiting for 38 years with his infirmity, in the midst of a throng of other sick people. He told Jesus that he was never able to get to the pool first and had no one to help him. Jesus healed him instantly. As with any bible verse, there is a lot to unpack in this account. I can start the process of reflection. Do we feel that no one is around for us and certainly not Jesus after waiting so long for a breakthrough? Simply look at Jesus Who is right beside you and knows what you want and need. His timing will be absolutely perfect. Wait patiently and even with advance gratitude!
