I am in Lindos, on the beautiful island of Rhodes, Greece, for the wedding of one of my sons. The afternoon on the day before the wedding, contrary to the weather forecast, the skies turned fully grey and the rain poured down. The following day the wedding was blessed with beautiful clear blue skies. With the contrast with the rain I was reminded not to take our blessings for granted. Also, I was told by a local that a stormy day is always followed by glorious weather on Rhodes. What a wonderful reminder that there is truth in this, in that God does bring us through our trials and tribulations. How often does nature teach us truths. In this analogy I reverse the common phrase of "the lull before the storm"! David similarly refers to this in one of his psalms when King Saul is trying to hunt him down and kill him. David has fled into a cave. "Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me, for in you my soul takes refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed. I cry out to God Most High, to God, who fulfills His purpose for me" (Psalm 57:1)
