Episode 10 - Ariah
In this episode of The Shuffle Curious Podcast, our guest Ariah Dix took us on a journey through her immersion in the shuffle community. Ariah's inclusive and fun nature has helped those around her and given others permission to be themselves. Growing up with creatives as parents primed Ariah for her shuffle journey. She began as a flow artist, observing shuffling and eventually wanting to learn.
Ariah sought out mentors after deciding to take shuffling seriously and found a local community (Mile High Shufflers) in Denver that quickly led to connections with shufflers across the nation. She traveled and found opportunities to connect with shufflers from all over, including Shuffle Wisdom and Raw Sessions events, where she was able to connect with shufflers in new and serene environments.
Throughout the ups and downs of life, shuffling has grounded Ariah and acted as a form of medicine, which she has also encouraged others to use and embrace. But beyond this, being a part of the battle culture within the shuffle scene has challenged her in many ways, helping her to develop and become a better person.
Overall, this episode highlights Ariah's journey in the shuffle community, her use of movement as medicine, and her involvement in the battle culture, whether that be a spectator or participant. It also showcases how shuffling has helped her through difficult times and connected her with people across the nation.
